Neutral Bedrooms Take Centre Stage as Homeowners Seek Calmer Sleep Spaces

It’s out with the bold as bedrooms look set to embrace calm and serenity this summer.

That’s according to new research from eco paint brand Victory Colours.

Using data from Pinterest, Victory Colours have found interest in ‘modern neutral bedroom’ has soared 700% over the last year.*

Victoria Yardley, Co-Founder of Victory Colours, said: “After years of bold feature walls and high-contrast schemes, many homeowners are now looking for colours that help them properly unwind at the end of the day, which is why homeowners are embracing neutral schemes.

“People want their sleep spaces to feel calm, cocooning and easy to live with.”

Soft neutrals are ideal for bedrooms because they create a gentle backdrop rather than demanding attention. Warm whites, putty tones, soft taupes, mushroom shades and muted stone colours all bring a sense of comfort without feeling flat or clinical.

Victoria added: “The key is to choose neutrals with warmth and depth. A bedroom painted in a cold white can feel stark, but a neutral with earthy undertones will instantly feel more restful and inviting.”

Layering different tones through the walls, woodwork, bedding and accessories can create a beautifully sophisticated space that doesn’t feel flat or muted. Natural materials such as linen, wool, wood and rattan also work incredibly well with neutral paint colours because they add texture and stop the room feeling one-dimensional.

Victoria added: “A neutral bedroom gives homeowners flexibility too. It is timeless, easy to update seasonally and provides a peaceful foundation for better rest.”

Victory Colours’ range of neutral paint shades are available now, priced at £44.95 for 2.5-litres of matt emulsion.

*Pinterest searches for the term ‘modern neutral bedroom’ in Great Britain and Ireland have increased 700% over the last 12 months to May 15, 2026.
