Texture Is the Secret to a More Luxurious Bathroom, Says Porcelain Superstore

Creating a more luxurious bathroom doesn’t have to mean ripping everything out and starting again.

According to the experts at independent tile retailer Porcelain Superstore, one of the simplest ways to give a bathroom a more high-end feel is by introducing texture to the walls.

Swapping flat, plain tiles for tactile, textured designs can instantly add depth, character and visual interest, helping even an everyday family bathroom feel more considered and lavish.

Abbas Youssefi, Founder of Porcelain Superstore, said: “Luxury in a bathroom isn’t necessarily about how much you spend. Often it’s the smaller design details that really make an impact.

“Textured tiles are a brilliant way to introduce a sense of luxury because they add another dimension to the room. Rather than having a completely flat surface, you have subtle ridges, grooves and reliefs that interact with the light and create depth and movement across the walls.

“They work particularly well in bathrooms because you don’t need to use them everywhere. A textured feature wall behind a basin, bath or shower can become a real focal point, while keeping the rest of the scheme relatively simple.”

Porcelain Superstore’s extensive collection of textured wall tiles has been carefully curated.  From on-trend fluted designs to timeless Zellige-inspired finishes, the range offers an easy way to introduce texture and elevate everything from contemporary schemes to more classic spaces.

Fluted Snow Décor Wall Tile has undulated ribbed detailing that begs to be touched. Laid horizontally, this tile will make the room feel wider, while subtle shadows will add a grounding dimension. A vertical layout will make low ceilings feel taller while adding an architectural element.

Fez Chalk and Zellige Pearl are both based on traditional Moroccan tiles. Each has an undulating surface and minor imperfections to add authenticity and character.

Fez Chalk will bring a rustic warmth, while Zellige Pearl exudes artisan craftsmanship.

Abbas added: “Keeping the colour palette restrained can make them feel even more sophisticated. Warm whites, soft neutrals and natural stone shades allow the texture itself to do the talking and give the bathroom that calm, high-end feel you often associate with boutique hotels and spas.”

Porcelain Superstore’s collection of tactile wall tiles are available now, with prices starting at £54 per m2.
