When it comes to choosing a new toilet, one of the most useful features could be the part that isn’t there.

According to British bathroom specialists Royal Bathrooms, rimless toilets offer a simple upgrade to traditional designs, combining easier cleaning, improved hygiene and a sleek contemporary look.

Unlike conventional toilets, which have an internal rim around the bowl to help distribute water when flushed, rimless models remove this hidden ledge altogether.

The result is a smoother, more accessible bowl with fewer awkward areas where grime and limescale can collect – making it easier to see exactly what you are cleaning and reach every part of the surface.

And with bathroom cleaning unlikely to feature highly on anyone’s list of favourite household jobs, it is a small design change that can make everyday upkeep that little bit simpler.

In addition, the streamlined design lends itself naturally to contemporary bathrooms. With a cleaner, less fussy appearance, rimless toilets work particularly well in minimalist schemes, compact bathrooms and spaces where simple lines and an uncluttered finish are the priority.

Waleed Shahid, Digital Marketing Manager at Royal Bathrooms, said: “A toilet probably isn’t the first place people expect to find clever design, but rimless models are a good example of how a relatively small change can make an everyday bathroom fitting much more practical.

“Traditional rims create hidden areas that can be awkward to reach when cleaning. Removing that rim means the inside of the bowl is much more accessible, so there are fewer places for dirt and limescale to accumulate and cleaning becomes far more straightforward.

“That can make a real difference in a busy household because anything that makes the bathroom quicker and easier to maintain is going to be welcome.

“The other advantage is that practicality doesn’t come at the expense of appearance. Rimless toilets tend to have a very clean, streamlined aesthetic, so they sit naturally within modern bathroom schemes.

“It’s essentially three benefits from one simple design change.”

Royal Bathrooms’ range of rimless toilets are available now, with prices starting at £129.99.
