Independent tile retailer Porcelain Superstore has revealed its top tile trend predictions for 2026.
And according to the family-run retailer, 2026’s interior design forecast is bursting with fresh ideas, from a bold, contemporary spin on chequerboard flooring to super-sleek wall tiles.
Abbas Youssefi, Managing Director of Porcelain Superstore, said: “Homeowners looking to revamp their spaces in the new year have so much to get excited about. 2026’s tile scene is brimming with possibility; we are seeing some nods to the past as well as new ideas that will push design boundaries.”
Here Abbas talks through his top four tile trend predictions for 2026:
TREND: CONTEMPORARY CHECKERBOARDS
Checkerboards are a timeless choice when it comes to flooring, but in addition to the classic black and white colourways, expect to see an explosion of options in 2026.
Abbas said: “The geometric appeal of checkerboards remains but we’re going to see more adventurous takes as homeowners opt for subtle shades of red, green and marble-effect options.
“I think we’ll also see small-format tiles being laid over larger floors for incredible visual impact.”
TREND: CLASSIC MARBLE MAKES A COMEBACK
Classic marble flooring is going to be everywhere in 2026.
Abbas said: “Look to opulent hotels for inspiration. The grander the better.”
However, according to Abbas, homeowners are going to opt for faux-marble crafted from porcelain, instead of the real thing.
He added: “Homeowners can enjoy the luxury of beautiful marble without any of the maintenance. Get the high-end look without the high-end price tag.”
TREND: SLEEK AND LONG WALL TILES
Metro and subway tiles are getting a svelte new look for 2026 as wall tiles become sleeker and longer.
Abbas said: “Long, thin tiles are great for tricking the eye and making any space feel more expansive. Laid horizontally, they make a room feel wider. Opt for a vertical pattern and the room will feel taller.
“Metro and subway tiles have an enduring appeal but we are seeing demand for a more modern take and these long, sleek wall tiles hit that style note.”
TREND: EARTHY COLOURS ABOUND
According to Abbas, warm, earthy shades are going to be the go-to colours for 2026.
Abbas said: “Earthy colours are really easy to incorporate into the home, and they bring with them a sense of calm and stability.
“I think we will see homeowners especially incorporate these shades in bathrooms, which can often be cold and clinical.
“In addition, I think travertine-effect tiles, those which mimic natural limestone, will really have a moment in 2026.”
Porcelain Superstore has more than 800 collections for both walls and floors.
