To quote Walsall’s favourite son, Noddy Holder: “It’s Christmas!” Well it is if, like us, you’re an Interiors PR Agency.
Right now, PR agencies across the country are getting into the festive spirit. Why? Well, it’s not for our collective love of mulled wine.
July is when our interiors clients start showcasing their festive collections so they can be considered for Christmas editions of the industry bibles, think Ideal Home, House Beautiful and LivingEtc.
These publications have lead times of three to four months, which means while most of us are thinking about summer holiday destinations, editors and journalists are scouring the land for the very best festive products.
Christmas in July gives it to them.
It started out with the big retailers; John Lewis, Marks & Spencer and Amazon all host their own festive press events in the summer months.
And smaller brands are getting in on the act too with many coming together at the Christmas in July event at Victoria House in Bloomsbury this week (July 12 and 13, 2017).
Pulling these events together is no mean feat; after all, your collection has grab a journalist’s attention and hold it while they head back to the office and start planning their Christmas features.
Prepping for Christmas in July is one thing but it’s the aftermath that’s key. Follow-ups calls, having the right imagery available and fulfilling sample requests are vital to the success of any consumer campaign.
This year we are chuffed to bits to once again be working with a fantastic festive firm, The Handmade Christmas Co.
As the name suggests, these guys sell handmade Christmas items made to order.
The firm was founded by two young entrepreneurs using a £3,000 credit card loan and a dream of selling 500 sacks back in 2014.
They smashed their original target within weeks and sold more than 42,000 sacks in their first year alone.
Last year, we placed them in The Daily Mail, Metro, Evening Standard, Prima, OK, woman&home and Your Christmas. They went on the sell more than 100,000 sacks.
Right now, we are just putting the finishing touches to their Christmas 2017 campaign and it’s one we cannot wait to get cracking with.
As Bing Crosby once crooned: “It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas.”
