Product placement and brand awareness in run up to Christmas 2016

Handmade Christmas Co, make gorgeous printed and personalised hessian toysacks themed around historical Brits.

The company was founded by two entrepreneurs Tom Coleman and Louis Porter using £3,000 credit card debt. After exceeding all their previous targets, 2016 saw them secure a listing in John Lewis.

Strategy And Tactics

We created a strategy which incorporated a gifting campaign to editors and traditional product placement. We also planned to pitch Louis and Tom’s business story to the Mail on Sunday’s SME pages in the run up to Christmas.

The whole campaign took place over an extended timeline to maximise our chances of placement.

Way back in July, we worked with handmade to create a fantastic lookbook which captured the essence of the brand and showcased their fantastic photography.

We then delivered this to key editors at long lead glossies and followed up with gifting options providing samples for journalists and to stylists for use in their Christmas photo shoots.

In September and October we approached weekly publications and in November we took handmade products to the daily paper gift guides and to the onlines.


Handmade Christmas Co’s sacks were featured in all the top gift guides for 2016 including, Country Living, Prima and Woman & Home.

We secured a page lead in the Mail on Sunday, mailonline and This is Money for the incredible story behind the brand. The brand founders have asked us to work with them on a range of new projects beginning in 2017.
