Pink is going to be THE colour in the kitchen in 2024, according to new research from independent tile specialists Porcelain Superstore.
Using data from Pinterest, Porcelain Superstore found interest in ‘retro pink kitchens’ has soared over the last two years, up 40% over a 24-month period.
Searches for the term ‘pink kitchen décor’ have also jumped by a staggering 60% in the last year.
Abbas Youssefi, Director of Porcelain Superstore, said: “This year we are going to see a revival of kitschy kitchens. Bold patterns, a touch of retro styling and a maximalist approach to accessories will take centre stage.
“And serving as the perfect backdrop will be stunning pink walls. Pink tiles will not only inject a dreamy, modern vibe into the kitchen, but will also complement existing white appliances and mixed metal finishes – meaning you don’t have to undergo a complete kitchen refit to get an attention-grabbing new look.”
Many factors could be driving the popularity on pink, including last year’s Barbie-mania which inspired eponymous interiors and fashion trends under the heading of Barbiecore.
The trend was sported by numerous high-profile celebrities including Harry Styles, Anne Hathaway and Margot Robbie.
Abbas said: “As homeowners get more adventurous with their interiors, the areas previously dominated by neutrals and clinical whites are being reimagined with a colourful spin.
“Combine this with the evolution of the tile market, which has seen more affordable options as porcelain and ceramic tiles become more readily available, and you can see why the search for pink is soaring.”
Porcelain Superstore’s range of pink tiles comprise of sleek metros, undulating hexagons and vintage-inspired beauties. Whether homeowners choose to go all out and cover an entire wall, or simply want an eye-catching kitchen splashbacks, these tiles will ensure kitchens are sitting pretty in pink.
